Since 2022 Bute Theatre Company, Bute’s local amateur dramatic society and Achievement Bute, a local children’s charity, have worked together to produce an annual Community Pantomime which is performed in the cinema in the lead-up to Christmas.
Recent productions include Peter Pan, Cinderella and Scrooge, all of which have featured filmed scenes and animated sequences as well as traditional panto acting onstage. Each year a team of enthusiastic volunteers and skilled professionals work together to create a truly magical interactive experience.
Despite only having a tiny stage and minimal backstage facilities, the cinema in the Winter Garden provides the perfect, intimate venue for these highly inventive, multi-media, intergenerational shows.
This year’s production will be an original, and slightly off-piste version of The Snow Queen which will be performed on Friday 5th and Saturday 6th December. Tickets will be on sale exclusively at local bookshop Print Point early in November.
